The Benefits Of Giving Employee Gifts
Employee gifts are not always thought about by big companies. Some employees that work for smaller companies enjoy the benefits of receiving gifts from time to time but that is only if the company is doing well. So, what about the employees at the larger companies? Are they supposed to expect an employee gift or are they just supposed to act like they are not to get one?
Giving out employee gifts can be a very hard thing to do for companies. For one, there is the unneeded expense factor. Giving employee gifts will cost a lot of money especially if there are a lot of employees. Even a $25.00 gift per employee can turn into a small fortune if there are 25 employees. But, the company should still give out the gifts.
Even though it will be expensive to give employee gifts, there are many added benefits to the gesture that could help the company long-term. For one, it will help the employees feel like they are appreciated and respected. Second, the employees will tell other people about the benefits they receive while working for the company and more and more people will want to work there.

Take Google for example. Google offers its employees volleyball and swimming time during the work day. Everybody wants to work at Google because they have heard about the hundreds of things that the company does for their employees. Everybody knows that Google would be a great place to work because they treat their employees very well. So, by giving out employee gifts, the company is setting up a reputation with employees all over. If everybody wants to work at the company, the selection is much better for the best of the best employees. That is why Google offers its employees the benefits that it does because they want the best of the best and do not want to worry about anybody leaving because they are underappreciated. Giving gifts can be expensive, but it may also turn into one of the best investments the company has ever made. Gifts do not have to be large either. The company could give out a series of small gifts. It gives the employees something to look forward to during the inter months when there are no breaks from work or no vacation time. The employees can look forward to receiving their gift each month or every other month. This can be done for a couple of months, but should not go on forever. While giving gifts is great for the employees, if they begin to rely on it, the company can come into a dangerous situation. If sales drop for a while and the employees cannot receive gifts, then they will have to not be relying on receiving it. Especially if the gift is money or some sort of gas card or something they need. Giving employee gifts should be well thought out and seen if it is beneficial for the company and the employee before giving them out. |
