Keep Employee Morale High To Increase ProductivityEmployee motivation can be very hard to deal with. The morale of employees can slip more and more every day. The hardest time for companies to deal with motivation and morale is after the holiday season from January until the summer. Companies in the northern part of the United States that have harsh winters are heard to say that they even have worse problems because of the lack of sunlight and energy in their employees. Although it may seem like the employees slow down during this time, there are many ways to life employee morale and get more motivation out of employees. During the winter months, many companies offer incentives such as a day off that is not a holiday. This gives the employees something to look forward to. Many companies are starting fresh so they like to hit a lot of deadlines in the first couple months of the New Year and start off better then the year before. One thing that some companies do is offer incentives of hitting the deadlines by the end of March. After March, they offer them a couple days off if the deadlines are hit. These deadlines should be realistic as well because if they are not the employees will lose interest fast and the morale will sink back down. When the winter months set in and there is barely enough daylight to get to and from work is a trying time for everyone. Many people feel like they do nothing but work because of the lack of daylight. This is why it is important to make the employees feel comfortable at their job. If they do not feel comfortable they will much rather be at home. While most employees would much rather be at home anyway, if they are a little bit comfortable, they can at least make their office their second home and not feel so detached during the long winter months. Employee motivation and morale can be hard to deal with especially if the company does not have a lot of extra money to give out as bonuses. But motivation does not have to be in the form of bonuses or money or days off of work. Employee motivation can consist of small goals being set for the company and the employees. When the employees accomplish these goals they will feel better because they will feel like they are accomplishing something and the company can praise the employees for their accomplishments. Employee morale can be lifted with small things such as buying lunch for the employees one day a month or having a jeans day once a month or on Fridays. These little things give employees something to look forward to. If they are coming to work everyday with nothing to look forward to or no deadlines, that is when the morale starts to slip. Employees can be motivated in tons of different ways and it is important that the morale stays high or the work quality will suffer as well as the company profits. |
